Depends on what you are looking for. If it is for a cheap night in and out, the Hilton, Holiday Inn on the Seawall will do. Galveston is not a beach town like what is in Florida. If you want something special to start your trip out and like history I would recommend the Tremont Hotel in the Strand. The Strand district is where the ship terminal is and they probably even have a transfer. It is one of Wyndham's historic hotels and is beautiful. We live in Houston, but when we want a romantic night away with old world ambiance, we go for the Tremont, and ask for an 09 or 39 room. Wood floors, 12/14 foot ceilings, towel warmers, french linens, iron bed - yummy.

i see most of the nicer hotels, require a 2 night min. on weekends. has anyone stayed at the victorian, days inn, ramada ltd., or econo lodge? they are the only places that has availabilty for 1 night.

We stayed at the Moody Gardens last year pre-cruise and loved it. We only stayed for the one night and they transferred us to and from the pier. They also allowed us to park our car there free of charge for the entire cruise.

We are looking at the Harbor House for our January cruise onboard Rhapsody. They too, let you stay for just one night, but I am having trouble finding out if they allow you to leave your car there or not. If they don't then we will be back at Moody Gardens!

We are booked at the Holiday Inn Sunspree. It is down the beach on seawall blvd. , have not seen it yet but heard that it is fairly new and clean. Anyone ever seen on stayed at the Sunspree? July , 2nights, @$100.00per night.
