wwinfl91 Posted June 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2006 Here are a bunch of links I gathered for our TA cruise last year. We ended up taking a tour with a great tour company, tours for you and I will include their link also. http://www.toursforyou.pt/Eng/indexeng.htm http://www.momentumeurope.com/destin4.shtml http://www.portugalvirtual.pt/_tourism/costadelisboa/index.html http://www.virtourist.com/europe/lisbon/index.html http://www.bugbog.com/european_cities/lisbon_travel_guide/lisbon_travel_guide.html http://www.portugaltravelguide.com/en/lx/general_information.htm http://portugal-info.net/lisboncoast/lisbon.htm http://www.urbanrail.net/eu/lis/lisboa.htm http://www.costa-azul.rts.pt/index_i.html http://europeforvisitors.com/europe/articles/lisbon.htm There is actually lots to do just in town but we did a tour that included Lisbon, Sintra & Estoril Coast and really enjoyed it. Have a great next cruise.
BrenGina Posted June 7, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 7, 2006 We used Grey Line Tours for a full day excursion as the previous poster. We also visited Fatima and Obidos. There is plenty to see in Lisbon, but I would make the most out of a tour to the surrounding area as well.
dege Posted June 7, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 7, 2006 We were there two weeks ago and spent a day at Sintra, which was about 45 minutes out of Lisbon by train. We took the metro to Zoologique (sp?) station. Then got on a train to Sintra. Total cost was about $8E for both, including a shuttle bus in Sintra. The town was very charming and had lots of shops, cafes, several gardens, castles, etc. to see. In Lisbon, the morning before we boarded the ship, we visited Sao Jorges castle with very nice panoramic views of the city. The ship's terminal in Lisbon was not very well organized. I believe we were on the first ship of the season, so maybe that was the reason. It might be worthwhile for you to get a 7colinas 1 day metro pass which is good for unlimited use of the metro, buses and streetcars. The streetcars are good if you want to explore the Alfama area as it is very hilly. You can just hop on and off where ever you want after scanning your ticket over the machine in the car. Also, I had heard that airport taxi drivers are known to overcharge, so we opted to buy a taxi voucher in the airport for about $15E. You purchase it at the information booth and they escort you to a participating taxi. Saved us the headache of worrying about paying twice as much as necessary to get to our hotel.
