Skyrules Posted June 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 7, 2006 7News' version of the Pacific Sun story - obviously talking to the two passengers that disembarked in Brisbane. http://au.news.yahoo.com//060607/23/za0w.html Wednesday June 7, 09:50 PM Virus sweeps through cruise ship By 7News Angry passengers from a P&O cruise have left their ship in Brisbane, claiming they were locked in their cabins as a virus spread through the Pacific Sun. P&O says more than 60 people are sick, but holidaymakers refusing to return to the ship claimed hundreds were ill. On the return leg of a 10-day trip from Sydney to Cairns, Michael Wanless described a horror holiday. "I missed half of Cairns, all of Port Douglas and Willis Island and today is the first day I've been back on shore since Cairns," Michael told 7News. Two days into the journey, gastroenteritis spread through the ship, which was carrying more than 2000 passengers and crew. Mr Wanless was quarantined and locked in his cabin for 48 hours without being tested. He's still unsure he had the highly contagious norovirus. A spokesman for P&O confirmed more than 60 people were suffering vomiting and diarrhoea. The company believes it was introduced by a sick passenger who boarded in Sydney. Some holidaymakers are now refusing to continue the trip to Sydney and are demanding a refund. But other passengers have jumped to the defence of the ship's staff, saying they have done all they can to prevent the spread of the virus and ensure travellers enjoyed their holiday. "A lot of hand washing, very clean hands we all have," one passenger told 7News.
howsthis Posted June 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2006 I hope the person who carried the virus wasn't showing signs when they boarded because you have to fill out that form before boarding stating whether you have had any vomiting etc. in the last week or something like that. karmac Posted June 7, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 7, 2006 I had to chuckle about the guy that "missed all of Willis Island". The ship anchored there for an hour so they could sell duty free. Karen
