SUB Bahamas Adventure Excursion?

Recommended Posts

My husband and I did the Sub in Bahamas last year. We were very disappointed the windows were covered with green algae and were not able to see anything.

I did this excursion off the Majesty last September and LOVED IT. The helmets would fog up a bit, but it was a lot of fun. You also get to snorkel as well. If you have an opportunity though, I would recommend getting SCUBA certified and doing that instead. The SUBS motivated me to get my certification.

Couple of questions: Were there a good variety of fish to be seen? Are they scared off by the bubbles and motor from the small subs? Alternately, the fish don't get so close that they could work their way up into your helmet, do they?

How much freedom of motion do you have within the sub? It looks like from the website that the subs are on a tether - how much of the excursion is on the tether vs. free mobility?

Thanks!

You are not on a tether. They let you go around on your own, but you are escorted by scuba divers. They put you in groups for photo/video opportunities. The fish cannot get into the mask. The air pressure won't allow it. They do put food in the water so that they swim around you. There were a ton of fish and they do get close to you, nothing to be afraid of. The water was crystal clear. If you have an opportunity to do it, I would.

  • 1 month later...

I'm actually going on this excursion this week (on the SOS 7/28 3-day) - was just wondering though... it was mentioned there's an opportunity to snorkel on this excursion? How does that situation arise? Should I just bring my own snorkel equipment with me?

Thanks!
