fountain majique? barcelona

Recommended Posts

This was one of our favorite parts of our trip to Barcelona. I was in charge of planning Italy so don't know all the details about Barcelona, but the Magic Fountain is in front of the national palace or Palau NacionalCatalan National Art Museum. It is a spectacular and free show! I think it only occurs on certain nights, at about 8 or 9pm, so hopefully you can find out more and work it into your trip.

This is a beautiful display and definitely one not to be missed. If you have seen the fountains at the Bellagio in Vegas, this is very similar, except that the fountain is nearly 80 years old. We were in Barcelona for one evening last summer and went to see the show. There were hundreds of people (if not a couple thousand) all around and plenty of places to sit. We took a cab there and then the subway back to Las Ramblas. You will surely enjoy it!

Debbierpof, about how long of a cab ride was it to the fountain? DH and I considered going when we were there on a Saturday night last June but we were too jetlagged to make the trip. Perhaps we'll be lucky next year and it will take place while we're there.

Our hotel was in Plaza Espana so we were walking distance to the fountains (Montjuic). If you take the Metro the the Plaza Espana station, look for the two tall brick towers and walk towards the hill where the MNAC is located (Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya).

When we were there last month, we watched the show on the weekend and it ran every 20-30 minutes. It's one of the few free activities that you can partake in if you had the time.
