Aussie Gal Posted May 22, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 22, 2004 We have been to Lisbon twice. The first time we saw everything as we were there a few days. Last year we only had one day, as we were on a cruise. We took the hop on, hop off bus just for fun and we found that it takes you to just about everything you need to see in the city. It doesn't take you to Sintra or to the beach areas but around the city it is very good and if you only have one day, you will certainly have time to see quite a lot. AltaJoe Posted May 22, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 22, 2004 Just an FYI, Fatima, one of the most revered shrines of the Roman Catholic church is located just outside the city. Pacific Princess Oct. Aussie Gal Posted May 22, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 22, 2004 We were lucky, we were docked practically in the city as we were on the Noordam which is less than 40,000 tons. I am not sure where the bigger ships dock, I think down near Belem. We were able to walk straight into the city and we caught the bus in the main shopping area. As regards to Fatima. We have been there and it was a good two hour journey from Lisbon and we had good traffic conditions. If you do go there, allow enough time for the journey and the return back to the ship. There is plenty to see in Lisbon without going to Fatima unless you have the desire to visit the shrine.
