Sarahgraci Posted June 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2006 My husband and I are going on an Alaskan cruise in September. We have 2 nights in Anchorage before we board the ship. I thought about staying in downtown Anchorage, since we want to do several things there. However, the hotels seem either really expensive or not a place we'd want to stay. The better values are out of downtown. My question; how is the parking situation in downtown? Are there public lots/garages that can be had on an hourly basis for a fair rate? Also, any hotel recommendations will be well appreciated :-) Thanks!
Chenega Posted June 18, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2006 Several municipal garages exist in downtown that charge $.75 per hour plus meter parking is also available for $.25 every 20 to 30 minutes. There are also several open/non garage parking lots throughout the downtown area as well. Compared to other places, parking is pretty easy. There are some fairly new hotels along C street, not too far from the airport and about a 10 minute drive downtown. These include the Hilton Garden Inn, Springhill Suites, Super 8, Homestead Suites, and a Fairfield by Marriott. You'll also find several places along Spenard Road closer to the airport including a Courtyard by Marriott and a Holiday Inn Express.
KAYEF Posted July 3, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 3, 2006 We parked a 36 foot motor home right on the street by the Visitors' Center..............while it IS a big city, it's not like the big cities in the Lower 48.
