We're back from our first cruise and overall had a WONDERFUL Time! The Spirit was so beautiful. Reading the boards helped us make the best of our cruise. We would like to share some photos of our experiences. Review to come...

Warning: The photos are very detailed of the ship, food, activities etc.

Here's a review of our cruise trip (more later)...

Embarktion: Went smoothly. We live in Long Island, NY and decided to leave the house around 9:30 AM. Our sailing date, 6/11, was same date as the Puerto Rican parade and thus wanted to leave and get to NYC before traffic would hit us. We arrived at the pier around 10:30-11 AM and had our bags checked in before we got inside. (We didn't hit any traffic at all). Check in wasn't difficult and at max took 15 minutes waiting in line. Remember to pre-register and have your bahamas card filled out (although they were handing extras out while you waited in line). We were allowed in the ship by 12 noon and took our on-board picture (which we later on bought, hehe) before setting foot on the Spirit. BUT, keep in mind of the number of ships on port in your sailing date, coming back from our vacation, there were 3 ships in total and it was just chaos seeing people getting off the boat and trying to get picked up in the front, at the same time that people are being dropped off to go on their cruise (there was major traffic when we got back home to NY). We were not allowed to go to our room till 2, so decided to grab some lunch at Windows, explored the ship and watched us sail away. By getting there early, we made it into a whole day.

Ship: The Spirit is such a beautiful ship. The Asian deco inside the ship was so magnificent to look at that I must have stopped to take pictures in almost every corner (as you might have seen, hehe). The casino was a good size, didn't really get full until our last night (seemed some people got lucky, this guy in the roulette must have won a couple of hundred $$). The lounge and bar had some great lighting and decorations as well, even had a bed in which you can relax and chill with your family and friends). The dance floor was an okay size, some nights it was filled to capacity, some nights it didn't get busy till really late. Galaxy of the stars was a nice alternate to having some of the shows, although I found this part oft he boat to be the shakiest; felt the ship move a lot and kind of got sea sick from it. But captain's bridge which is located here was pretty cool and informative (had lots of background info about the ship, and this is also where you can find the dragon, and of course can watch the captain and his crew) Stardust Theatre was big (this is our first cruise so have nothing to compare to) and it was nice to have the options of sitting in one of the balconies up in deck 8, especially if you have drinks at hand (have to get there early though). All the restaurants we found to be beautiful, some were bigger than rest, some were more intimate than others, etc. (more on this and food later on). Pool can be found in deck 12 (deck 13 overlooks pool). Pool was a bit small and does get crowded, but usually it is because of the pool parties they have in the afternoon. Maybe having another pool (perhaps indoor would be nice- don't know wehre they can put it though). But anyways, go late during the day (after 6pm or so) and it usually gets empty. Ofcourse it is different during the day ( I suggest, tough it up during the afternoon, enjoy the bbq, party, and music, try to find a chair regardless where it is cuz u can always move when u find a better spot, and then can always go back later on the day to have some more privacy, it's also pretty romantic going in the jacuzzi at nite). Gym was okay size, I didn't really have to wait long to use any of the machines. And our inside sate room deck 10 was fine for us. It wasn't that big, but all u do there is rest and sleep any way. But even if, the room was so comfortable, especially with the AC. I found the closet to be ample for my clothes, although bf left some of his clothes in the luggage- he preferred it that way though. Do bring an extra outlet plug, since needed to charge my camera and wanted to have a alarm clock, but had to alternate using just one plug). Bathroom was big, enuff for both of us to fit. And hair dryer did its job for me, although I really don't spend too much time with it since all i use it is to blow dry my hair really. We did bring a night light, which we didn't use since they did have these lil lights over the bed. Oh, and they had already pulled the beds together even before we got there which was so nice of them to take initiative of.

Embarkation Day: Arrived at the pier at 10:30 and got in by noon. My bf and I were so excited that the time went by so quickly, and before you knew it, we were inside and already taking pictures. As soon as we got in, we went straight to the Grand Centrum and made our dinner reservations (almost for the whole week, hehe). Sun- Le Bistro (early seating, half off) Mon- Optional formal night (didn't make reservation, but would recommend it cuz long lines did form) Tues- Shogun (early seating, half off again, but got lucky and had 2 seats open for teppinyaki), Wed- La Trattoria (ate early because planned on going to the overnite party at island) Thur- (left it open, but switched to Shogun cuz missed it on tues) Frid- Cagneys. We then went to Windows and had lunch (portions were small, but allowed to order multiple orders, didn't really need to because were having dinner at Le Bistro later on). The place is spacious, but tables close together (didn't mind), windows in the back were huge and had a nice view, waiters were nice (never had dinner here, just lunch usually) and service was quick- but keep in mind in was during lunch and was place was never full. Room still wasn't ready, but used the time to explore the ship (bf's idea and was great cuz after that, we pretty much knew where everything was). Went to room around 2pm and unpacked (were missing one luggage and realized that it was held downstairs because x-ray thought our soda cans were beer cans i guess; wasn't a big deal though, it was just protocol). Went back down to Deck 7 and finalized our shore excursions (by this time, some of them were already full, not sure which ones). Then went upstairs to Deck 12 and 13 and watched us sail away from NY (great view, vacation mode definitely took over once we were up there, waiving off to the city). The pool deck was great, live band was already playing, there were no water in the pool yet but the jacuzzis were open, the kid's pool area was open though, and kids were already swimming and having a great time. By 5:30-6pm, we were at Le Bistro having dinner. For appetizers, I had the escargot (which I found delicious!) and bf had salmon of some sort (he thought it was okay), for main entree, we both had the filet mignon (which was cooked the way we liked it and was good, i do recommend ordering the flame starter or something- but have to pay extra, but couple next to us ordered it and looked delicious and they really do put it in flames right in front of you, couldn't really see what foods were in it, but did see some shrimps). dessert- we each had choc fondue and also had the cheesecake and creme brulee (all was good, choc was dark choc but was still delicious), presentations of the food were pretty to look at (as u can see from our pictures, hehe). After dinner, checked out preview of Alfred and Seymour at Galaxy of stars (show was ok, but their main show was Hysterical!!, much better). Ship moved a lot here and got a little sea sick (we decided to take the bomine, one in the morning and one at night, also took some ginger pills, all from advice of fellow cc, thank you so much). So went back to room and relaxed a little, changed and went back out. Had late snack at Blue Lagoon while watching the bball game, place got really crowded because everyone was watching the game(ordered 3 orders of buffalo wings- thanks to cc tips, potato skins (ordered it every time we were here) and wonton soup (good, but I enjoyed the tomato soup better- i didn't find it watery, but flavorful). Then hung around the casino. Other activities this first night: beach party wit fusion wave band at 10:45, and fire and ice party at nightclub, also have to sign up for murder mystery dinner today if u wanted. Busy day and completely crashed once we hit the bed. Great day, great night!

From http://www.eu.ncl.com./

I did a little resizing for a signature size and a little cleaning up of text from the graphic. Note, your graphic and web browser programs need to be able to work on a background graphic, or you will not get the ships to work on.
