Onboard Credit As A Gift Disaster

Yeah we did realize that. Did you realize she said she was sailing in August??

I think the OP's countdown clock shows the cruise was August of 2006.

I agree it's still pertinent...I just ordered casino credit and the CSR asked if the credit was for Mr. H*** or for L***** (my last name) and I responded L***** (me). That seems like a valid question to me and if it had been my parents calling to order the gift the CSR might have asked the same question. But the question could be phrased differently...ask the caller "Which guest should receive the casino credit?"

Imagine if I was married and travelling with a man who wasn't my DH...

I also don't like the name tags outside the cabin door. I pull them out the moment we get to our cabin...

Muffydawg,

Thanks.. didn't notice it was from last August.

As pointed out, it is very pertinent especially these days. Can't believe they needed anything more than passenger name and sail date to place an order. Your idea about pulling the name card is really good. I will do that from now on.

Anytime I have sent a friend or relative a bon voyage gift on Princess, Celebrity or Carnival, I have always received a fax receipt with the guest's confirmation number and sometimes the cabin number. The only information I had given the cruise line was the name of the ship, the date of the sailing and the passengers' names.

I too felt as if I was given too much information by the cruise line. However, the excess information in some way gave me some assurance that at least the gift would be received by the right passengers.

After reading later comments that this is an old thread, I am editing my posting to reflect that this is still an ongoing problem as recently as two months ago with Celebrity and two weeks ago with Carnival.
