Elevators shut down during disembarkation

I forgot to mention this in my review of the Legend June 13th, but after we docked in New York, Carnival shut down the glass elevators, and I'm pretty sure 3 out of the four midship elevators. I know this because A) I was waiting in the Unicorn Cafe and wanted to see what was taking so long down on the Promenade deck and all I saw working was one, and B) while waiting to disembark one could easily see that the glass elevators were stopped. So for those who want to do self-assist (or anybody else for that matter), use the forward or aft elevators.

I'm sure they were stopped as a crowd control measure.

The last few cruises I was on, not only were the elevators shut down but the AC was turned off!!! I was shocked to see people hanging out on the stairwells and just waiting to disembark.

I'm glad to have a balcony cabin this time so I can just hang out on the balcony until everybody has left the ship ;)

Most of the elevators are you used to bring luggage down to the loading docks.

The luggage is brought down in the early hours of the morning. The forward elevators are shut down during disembarkation because a cordon is formed in the lobby to facilitate an orderly exit and these elevators open up in the middle of the cordon.

Yst347, I don't quite understand your reply. My original past does say use the forward or aft elevators, the midship atrium elevators were shut down, except for one. How are the atrium elevators part of the forward elevator bank? You have a set right behind Follies, the glass and midship right behind Club Merlin Casino and the aft right in front of Truffles Restaurant, using the Panaroma deck as reference.

I thought that everyone had to be out of their cabins. That no one could not wait in the cabins for disembarkation. As the cabin stewards are cleaning the rooms for the next set of ppasengers. Can someone please clarify carnival policy on this?

I believe the OP said what they meant to say. The atrium is amidship.

My humble apologies, brain f*rt, The Legend was my only Spirit class cruise. On all the other ships the Atrium is forward. Thanks for the correction.

I think it depends as much on the ship and port as anything else. On Liberty we could stay in the cabins until they called our deck. More and more people seem to be doing self-debarkation these days and many of those that don't want to be first off the ship so there are lots of cabins to clean.

I usually pick up breakfast in the Lido and bring back to the cabin to savor one last gluttonous meal while doing last minute packing. :) Beats sitting in an airport waiting for a flight. ;)

Oh my God, it's late and I am laughing so loud my husband woke up and told me to get off the computer. The brainfart comment was just hysterical when it was misunderstood. I though it was a joke because I knew the poster was referring to himself. It's so easy to be misunderstood using this medium.
