Carnival Private Island Beach Break

Hi, have a question ~ has anyone been on Carnivals Private Island Beach Break? Where do you ferry to? How is the snorkling? We usually book privately but rest of the family, who have never cruised, are scared to book off the ship. Thanks, LU

Google Bannister Island they have their own web page to check them out.

Also found a not so wonderful review on the thread where people posted their whole trip review. They had bad weather and had a long wait for the tender to go back to the ship, as it would not leave without all the passengers, and some didn't want to leave as they hadn't gotten their money's worth!

We did Carnival's Private Island Beach Break in March. The tender picks you up right off the ship and takes you to Bannister Island ~ about a 30 minute boat ride. There were 2 times offered; we took the later one which left the ship at 10 am.

Other ships use this Island also, so when we got there our tour operators told us we might not find a lounge chair right away, but that some of the people would be leaving as earlier tours ended. They were right. No empty chairs in sight. We used the clean restrooms, got our free rum punch (included with the tour), sat down at a covered palapa and put on our sunscreen. By that time, people were leaving so we were able to get 5 lounge chairs together, no problem.

The beach is nice, there is a covered outdoor restaurant/bar area. Waitresses come around to your loungers and take your order and serve you at your lounge chair. The menu is limited: burgers, hot dogs, chicken strips, nachos, a few other things. We had chicken strips that were very tasty.

There really is no snorkeling in the roped off swimming area, but people were snorkeling on the other side of a nearby dock. Don't know if they were seeing fish or not.

The water was nice and warm. The weather that day was a little windy, but pleasant. You can rent kayaks or pedal boats for an additional cost. Our kids got a kayak and paddled around for a while. Our tender left to take us back to the ship at 2 pm.

We had a pleasant day at Bannister Island. We did like Paradise Beach in Cozumel better, though. If you have questions, I'll try to answer. :)

Sue, do you know if that is the same beach that NCL goes to on their excursions? They offer a 4 hr. "beach break" that says that you arrive at the beach after a short tender from your ship. It is $39 pp no lunch. We will be in Belize on Thanksgiving Day and would like to go to a beach but can't seem to find out much info on beaches there. Thanks

Sorry, 2hoops, but I don't know if it is the same excursion for NCL. The price we paid was about the same, though. The Island we were on is called "Bannister Island" (sometimes referred to as "Bannister Caye"). Maybe you could call NCL and find out if it's the same Island. Good luck! :)
