Janet524 Posted June 27, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 27, 2006 Cruising in August on Grandeur out of Baltimore. Any suggestions on where to stay pre-cruise. We'd like something close to the pier, but not a "budget buster". Thanks!:)
signman Posted June 27, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 27, 2006 Downtown Inner Harbor is closest to the pier. If it were me, I would bid for something in that area on Priceline. Any of the 3 or 4 star hotels are acceptable. Read reviews at http://www.biddingfortravel.com How are you arriving?
Janet524 Posted June 27, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted June 27, 2006 Signman, thanks for your input. FYI we'll be driving north from Virginia.
signman Posted June 27, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 27, 2006 If you are driving, then parking will set you back $15-20 for the night, so figure that into the equation. But if you are coming in to experience the Inner Harbor, then that is where you should stay. The Hyatt has a park and cruise deal. Parking at the port is $10/day, so that may work out for you. A cab from the Hyatt to the pier should be no more than $15. http://www.marylandports.com has a list of hotels with park and cruise deals, but there are many more hotels Downtown. Janet524 Posted June 28, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted June 28, 2006 Thanks for all your information. I got the Renaissance Harborfront Hotel bidding on priceline.com for $85! It looks like it's right across the street from the inner harbor. I think I did pretty good with the bid because their website listed the cheapest room at about $240! madelinerose Posted June 28, 2006 #7 Share Posted June 28, 2006 Excellent, Janet! Yes, it is right across the street. I worked a block away for many years. You'll be iright n the midst of all the Inner Harbor visitor attractions and you certainly got a great rate for the summer, when our tourism is at it's peak. ;) Thanks for all your information.
