Antibes & Beaches

Hi All - How exciting I just joined and this is my first posting! What a wealth of info you people are!

My family and I are on the Galaxy Aug. 4th and one of our ports is Cannes - not really interested in going there but was thinking of visiting the old town in Antibes and then going to the beach. I like the idea of the private beaches where you can rent a chair, have lunch... Any suggestions - much appreciated!

You can in fact do that in Cannes itself - most stretches of the main beaches are occupied by 'clubs'; you can walk in and pay for two loungers and a parasol. Or you can just sit on a bit of free beach, but there are no loungers/chairs, etc.

 

There are buses and trains to Antibes, but I don't know how easy it is to get from where they stop to the local beach.

Several years ago we were staying in Nice and had a rental car. We drove to Antibe for the day. Unfortunately I don't remember any specifics, but I do remember that it was very easy to find the beach. There was a restaurant ans I believe there was the option to rent equipment.

We also are on the Galaxy on the 4th. We are a family of 8 and who knows we might bumb into each other during the cruise.

One other town you might want to consisder that is close by is St. Paul -de-Vence.

Should anyone out there read this and have any information to a recommended private tour guide from Cannes it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks you guys for the info - maybe we will just do the beach in Cannes - if anyone has a specific name that would be great. I look forward to meeting fellow cruise critics on board - Sally:cool:
