Pirates Museum

I'll be in Nassau on July 5th with my two teens ages 15 & 19 and was thinking of going to the Pirates Museum. Of course with all of the fanfare over the release of the new Pirates of the Caribbean film I figure it may be a popular choice (we'll go to the premiere of the movie when we get off the ship on July 7th :)

 

Has anyone been there and, if so, what was it like? I'm thinking of going to the public beach that Scubagirl mentioned (thanks Scubagirl for all of your helpful advice throughout this board!) How far is the museum from the public beach? Also should we take a cab to the beach?
