emsachs Posted July 2, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2006 Some in our group have suggested seeing the Book of Kells while we are in Dublin. The ship offers a tour that includes the Book of Kells as well as Dublin castle. Has anyone done this tour?? Is the Book of Kells worth standing in line for? (I've heard the lines can get quite long). We thought we'd do this tour in the AM and then go into town in the afternnon and just wander around, shop, get a pint of Guiness, etc.... The Book of Kells is right in town. You could do the tour if they can get you past the lines which yes,can be long, but if you get there early enough in the AM and go right to them(Trinity College right off Grafton Street) you should be fine and you really can do this on your own.You can tour Dublin on your own by using the Hop/on Hop/off bus that starts right in the area there.Grafton Street is the main shopping street, the Temple Bar area needs no explanation, and the Tour bus does stop at the Guinness Brewery.Loads of place to eat and did mention drink.I was there for 5 days, and I have to admit I did not see the Book of Keels so I can't answer your main question of standing in line to see them.Enjoy your stop in Dublin:D
