Mayflower Terminal, Southampton

I am sailing on Arcadia in October from Southampton.

Can anyone please let me know what the facilities are like at Mayflower Terminal? Are the food counters any good? Is there a drop off point for Hire cars? From start to finish how long does the check in procedures take? Any useful information would be appreciated.

HI. I have used Mayflower twice and cannot believe how efficient it is all run! P & O are fantastic in the way you stop at the terminal with your car (this can be within 5 minutes or 20 minutes depending on how busy the line is) and then you get out yout car, a man takes your luggage and you hand your keys in! Simple! You now do not see your luggage until you get into your cabin. Then you queue for about 10 minutes or so inside to give passports etc (make sure you have filled out your credit card details on the card they provide with your tickets and also best if you confirm everything on-line so it is all done before you get there). Very friendly, takes 5 minutes, into the lounge and Voila! just sit and wait until your ticket colour (which they hand to you on entry) gets called for embarkation. It shouldnt take much more than 30 minutes from dropping car to queing, maybe quicker.

There is a bar in the lounge area of the terminal and also a counter which sells packs of sandwiches, cakes, drinks, tea and coffee etc so you won't go hungry. Once you board it is usually 2pm with P & O and you are briskly checked into you cabins then afternoon tea is served in either the main dining rooms or the buffet. (very nice crust-free sandwich fingers, scone with cream and jam, cholcate eclairs etc etc, you get the picture).

Hope this is helpful but you should find it totally hassle free........... 100% better than airports. No stress at all! Have a great time. Hollyanna;)
