J&W B Posted July 8, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2006 How big is the safe in the cabins? Will it hold an SLR camera or only documents?
treywash Posted July 8, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 8, 2006 We sailed on Minerva II (another "R" ship clone) in 2004. The safe in our room was big enough to hold a SLR camera. I would guess you get at least 10" x 8" x 6", maybe more than that. I expect to see the same safe when we sail with Insignia in 2 weeks.
sandbag7 Posted July 8, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 8, 2006 We were on the Regatta cruise which ended earlier this week; the safe is certasinly large enough for a Camera, plus any Jewelry, passports and unneeded funds.

Druke I Posted July 8, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 8, 2006 You might want to take a large zip-lock bag for wallets, credit cards, etc. There is a lip at the bottom of the safe, and thin items can "hang up" there, and it is possible to miss items with a "hand sweep". J&W B Posted July 9, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted July 9, 2006 unneeded funds. Cough cough... :-) The suggestion for a zip bag is excellent!
rreett Posted July 10, 2006 #7 Share Posted July 10, 2006 So I am guessing the safe is too small for a laptop to fit? Also what type of safe is this? set your own code or use a credit card? Thanks!

Thanks! No, a laptop would be too big. The safe is open when you board, you then choose a code and set it for the remainder of the trip. Be sure the code your choose is something you will remember!
