keylime27 Posted July 12, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2006 Has anyone tried any of the acupuncture services at the spa?
Lightsluvr Posted July 12, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2006 Wow. I guess I missed that one... apparently we didn't pay much attention to the Spa handouts. I am puzzled that RCI would expose themselves to the liability for an invasive procedure like acupuncture. That being said, I did find a reference to an acupuncturist on the Freedom of the Seas. I must say I am amazed... "A team of 32 provides services, including 2 barbers, 5 fitness staff, 2 hairdressers, 2 nail specialists, a teeth whitening specialist and an acupuncturist – a service initiated by Royal Caribbean’s sister company Celebrity Cruises." Live and learn. LL
esther e Posted July 12, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 12, 2006 I did on Celebrity last Sept. He was excellent, just about as good as the one I use here on occasion.
LDinCT Posted July 12, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 12, 2006 I had accupuncture on the 6/24 Explorer sailing. It was pretty good. I felt more relaxed. I did it to help with my "cravings". It seems to have helped. I will try it again when on the Mariner in Aug. if they have one.
keylime27 Posted July 12, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted July 12, 2006 We've never had it done before, but always talk about it. Glad to hear that its been a good experience. Lol, we're cruising during hurricane season. Hope we don't get an appointment during a rocky storm.......
cookieboy1 Posted July 13, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 13, 2006 I met James the acupuncturist on the Freedom when I cruised in June. He was a very likeable, professional accupuncturist. Although I was not interested in his services I have several friends who have had sessions with him and found them to be quite beneficial. I'm a little intimidated by the thought of it, but I can tell you that James was great, and that my friends had nothing but good things to say. Hope that helps! plantocruise Posted July 13, 2006 #7 Share Posted July 13, 2006 Does anyone know if there is an acupuncturist on the Mariner? It is something that has been suggested to me for cluster headaches. Our October cruise would be a great time to try it.

keylime27 Posted July 13, 2006 Author #10 Share Posted July 13, 2006 According to the RCL website, Acupuncture is now offered on all Voyager,Radiance, and Vision class ships. So, you should be able to try it on Mariner :)
Rabbitlady Posted July 13, 2006 #11 Share Posted July 13, 2006 Yes, it was offered on the Mariner by Dr. Jessica who appears at some of the activities to introduce it. I tried it previously on Celebrity and liked it. I came home and found an acupuncturist here. I use it for headaches and PMS relief. It does work but not always right away and it can take a few sessions/months for headaches if you have had them for a long time like I have. It is expensive on the cruise- $150 I think for one session. I don't remember paying that much on Celebrity. I only pay $50 a session on land.
