Katar Posted July 14, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2006 Hello all, Just received our tickets for NCL Spirit 09/02/06 cruise. Turns out that our inside cabin is in the very stern of the ship on deck 9. We had a mid ship cabin on the only other cruise (also with NCL) we were on before. I am curious to find out if being located all the way in the end of the hall, and probably right above the rotors is a bad thing, good thing, or does it even matter. What I mean is do you feel the motion more in the stern, or can you expect to be subject to vibrations from the ship's propulsion system while located so close to it? garycarla Posted July 14, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 14, 2006 FYI - the bow is in the very front on the ship. The stern as you mentioned is in the very rear. As to the question, lots of folks love being in the stern and have not mentioned issues with the engines, though you surely would feel more in the back than mid ships or the front. Is it noticeable would vary by individual. Personally, I hear and feel things that my wife usually does not, until I mention it to her that is. Texas2804 Posted July 14, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 14, 2006 Let me start by saying: I am a person prone to seasickness...took the pills, wore wristbands, etc.... and I was on a small ship 39,000 tons. It was NCl Sea. In the very front of the ship (bow) I did get motion sick and couldn't be in there to watch the shows at night. However, I was never bothered by movement or vibrations in the back of the ship where the restaurant, casino and lounge were. I bet if you take a dramamine before you go to bed you won't be bothered by the vibrations....the only time we were in our cabin was to sleep at night. There is too much going on in the rest of the ship to spend the cruise in your cabin.
Rare momofmab Posted July 14, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 14, 2006 Bow or stern? We were directly on the bow when we were on the Sun and found it to be quite rocky despite calm seas. Nothing that a daily dose of dramamine didn't cure, but for our next cruise we're looking mid-ship.
Katar Posted July 17, 2006 Author #6 Share Posted July 17, 2006 Sorry... I meant to say STERN. In other words, the back of the ship :o
kimdave68 Posted July 17, 2006 #7 Share Posted July 17, 2006 Book 8000. :D I'm going to do this in Jan/Feb. The views of the "flying fish" are practically endless while sitting up in the window. Worth sacrificing a balcony over.
