Celeribrity transfers in rome

We get into Rome early in the day 8:30 AM 8-4-06 from Philly on US AIR and since the ship does not sail until 7:00 we are hoping to transfer our luggage with our prepaid transfer to the ship and then jump on the express train for a visit to Rome. Does anyone know if this makes sense, outside of having to pay for a train ticket out the port in the afternoonfrom Rome. Our transfer indicates that the luggae will go to the prt via a luggage truck and end up in our room as most transfer services do. If anyone has done thjis i would appreciate a heads up on this.

if the luggage can get to the ship with celebrity do no go and then back. you will have to call celebrity to make sure you can do this.

exit airport walk across the street (still in airport complex) and there is a every 20 minutes nonstop train to downtown rome termini station. there is a hop on hop off trolley that stops at the train station that takes you past about 15-18 stops. it runs every 45 minutes. you can stop and see at least 4-5 different places because you can walk to some from the one you stopped off at. talk to the driver or guides.

eventually back to the train station where you can buy a 9 euro ticket on the express (private compartments for 6) 50 minutes to port or a 4.5 euro commuter train that takes 1 hr 10 minutes. without schlepping luggage the walk from the train station to the port entrance and free shuttle is about 5 minutes.
