Venice question

How would I expect to find people dressed in Venice during the evening? Are people more casual or dresses nicely ? I have a nice white halter sundress that my husband wants me to wear, but Im afraid I might be over dressed. It is nice enough for a casual dinner on the ship or even a nice restauraunt, but if everyone is in jeans, I dont want to stand out.

Also during the evening will I see many in shorts ?

If i know in advance just what I will see, it will really help me out.

You will see everything from shorts and flip-flops to dresses with stockings and heels. Wear what you will be comfortable in.

Tourists will be in shorts - locals will be in dresses or skirts (rather like the one you have described.) It depends if you want to look like a local or a tourist.

Venice in the evening is lovely...not nearly as crowded. Your sundress sounds perfect. I wore long skirts and sundresses, my husband wore shorts most days. We both were perfectly comfortable.
