Time to get to Red Hook

What time do you feel I should arrive at Red Hook so that I will encounter the least amount of crowds? Thanks!

"least amount of crowds"...is a tough one. If you get there around 11:30 you run into the early birds and the late getter off-ers. Anytime between 11:30 - about 2 you get the largest crowds. after 2 it begins to lessen. By three its pretty empty getting on. Personally I get there early and deal with the early people. You lose allot by getting there late. I also think you will have to deal with the number of people aboard sooner or later and sooner is better.

Here is another way to look at it...

At 12:00 would you rather be...

a) driving to the port

b) standing on line waiting to board

c) on board eating lunch with a drink in your hand.

I'm not sure how Brooklyn is, but with the Florida ports I usually arrive at 10:00, wait on a line for about two hours, and I'm on board by 12:00. Your paying for that first day, you might as well get the most of it.
