pumpkin4908 Posted July 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2006 Hi Everyone, I'm new to the group and my DH and I are going on our very first cruise in October to Bermuda via Explorer of the Seas. Very excited!!! I am finding alot of helpful hints and such from this site. But I have a question regarding passports. I know that in Jan. 2007 it is a must to have a passport to enter Bermuda, but is it going to start earlier than that? Do I need to get one for my trip in October? Please, Please, help me with this. I have gotten conflicting answers regarding this thats why I'm asking on this site. I think you guys will know the exact answer. By the way, I'm leaving out of Cape Liberty, NJ. If anyone has been on that cruise I would love some feedback from your trip. Thank you for all of your help.
kitty9 Posted July 18, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2006 You do not need a passport for Bermuda unless you're flying into or out of a Bermuda airport. If you're just cruising, all you need is your certified birth certificate and a photo ID.
Trevoli Posted July 18, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2006 That's my understanding, too. Be sure your b.c. is issued from the state of your birth, not from the hospital. All that said, however, I would encourage you to get the ball rolling on getting a passport ASAP. As the deadline draws near, the waiting period is going to get longer and longer. They will need your b.c. in order to issue your first passport, so if you don't want to surrender it now (in order to be absolutely, 100% sure you have it for the October trip), it would be a good idea to apply as soon as you return. pumpkin4908 Posted July 18, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted July 18, 2006 Thank you for your replies. I might just start now to get a passport, just so I have one. If I like this cruise, I hope to taking cruises in the future :) Thanks again. Marianne
