What Really Happened??!!

Like the rest of us, was shocked when told to about the incident on July 18th with the Crown. The account of the events are hard to believe...I sailed on the July 2 trip andencountered rough water. Except for the ship rocking, seemed to have no navigational problems.

Could there be more to this??? This brings back thoughts about our long delay in leaving Red Hook. Then there was that NYPD helicopter that was a bit too interested in our ship...and then being escorted into Puerto Rico by the Coast Guard. I also read a story while we were at sea about a group of terrorist being arrested in NYC.

Perhaps I'm a bit too suspicious...

Like to hear from the rest of you that sailed with us. Do you believe the ship encountered steering problems?

Personally I think you are too suspicous. If it had anything to do with terrorists, they wouldn't have refunded the money. The checking in and out of the Port is the new routine. I will bet, especially since this happened before, it will turn out to be a software problem...

We were on the July 2 voyage also, and only noticed when we hit rough water and the stablizers were put out, that they grinded alot. You can hear this really well when in the Boticelli dining room and also in the internet cafe while on the computers. We did think it was very odd that we could not get the correct fuel in NY before we left and when I asked Captain Andy at the captain's cocktail party why didn't we go into one of the other ports between NY and Maryland that whole day, he just stated it is complicated and could not just go in to fuel up. It is also very odd that we were sailing so close to the land, as I had cell phone service up until we got down to Florida. I don't think that we will ever know the whole story of what happened to us, but if this accident and listing was the captain or crew or mechanical fault, I think because of the news coverage that they will say something.

We just hope that everyone on the ship is going to be ok and gets home safe.

Regarding the coast guard escort into Puerto Rico, when on cruise last Oct. and this Mar. coast guard also escorted all ships into St Thomas, I would not put any question marks on that, We were also escorted by St Martin coast guard when going in there.

my wife and i sailed with you on the 7/2

just a little info re: the coast guard escort.. all ships are escorted by the CG in and out of major ports, saw this on the CP cruise as well as on other post 9/11 cruises

the nypd chopper didnt seem out of the ordinary as well as the nypd boats that were around us during our embarcation. seemed that they were looking at the ship...they were also waving to us...might indicate that there was not a 'security issue'.

as far as encountering 'rough weather'.... seas were quite moderate our entire cruise. from our mid ship cabin i thought the ride was pretty smooth. did notice a lot of lateral movement during 2 dinners at sabatinis

though.

dont believe that we encountered any steering issues on that cruise.

RePeteN,

I did notice that odd "shimmying" motion several times during our 7/2 voyage. Someone said it was the stablizers!

For all the ships I have been on and even during 70 mph winds never felt anything like the "shimmying" motion. There might have been problems at that point or even related to our delayed "fuel" sailing.
