Katy P. Posted July 23, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2006 Does NCL cancel shore excursions if there are not enough people booked for that particular tour? What happens then if you had pre booked this tour prior to your departure? Do they then switch you to another tour? (assuming that there's still another shore excursion for that city that can take in more people) But what if all the other tours are also full? Any info is much appreciated. Thanks.:) :) :)
Onessa Posted July 23, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2006 At least in some cases it depends upon the operator on-shore who is running the excursion. If the operator has a minimum, NCL must provide that minimum. If the operator does not have a minimu, then the excursion will go on. Never had a excursion cancelled - doubt that they would switch you without asking you. We'll have to wait for someone whose actually been cancelled to find out! mncruiser66 Posted July 23, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2006 We wanted to do the swim with the dolphins - it was my first cruise and we didn't know about prebooking the tours - so we were told the tour was so full they could not take anymore. Then 2 days before we got there they decided that we would be arriving early enough that they were going to do 2 tours and would we like to go - so we said yeah! it was in the afternoon so we went and did shopping before hand - when we got back to the ship to change for the tour we had an accouncement that the tour was cancelled due to the tour company's not being able to accomadate 2 tour groups. So we ended up at the pool and had a WONDERFUL time just lounging and being pampered because we were almost the only ones on the ship! Now we actually try to spend part of one of the days in port on board because the service is fabulous!
Lisa63 Posted July 23, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2006 We've had shore excursions cancelled a few times through the years. If you had booked an excursion that had a choice of departure times -- say 9 am and 1 pm -- and only the time you booked was cancelled, they typically move you to the other one if there is space, but allow you to then cancel that without penalty. If the entire excursion is cancelled, you simply get a refund. A couple of times when this happened to us, we got priority for other tours, but that seems to be rare these days. The chances of a shore excursion being cancelled are rare, but have a Plan B prepared just in case. For instance, I print out maps and ideas for making our own tours before we go. diamondf467 Posted July 24, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 24, 2006 I once had my shore excursion cancelled due to inclement weather. They offered us another tour and refunded the extra money.
KeystoneCruiser Posted July 24, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 24, 2006 When I was in Hawaii on the POA in 2004, our tour of the Parker Ranch was cancelled because not enough people had signed up for it. NCL took the tour off our bill and a shore excursion person personally called us to suggest some other similar tours.
