CajunGroover Posted July 23, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2006 When cruising in the past, I have purchased "Black Box" wines. One box is equivelent to 4 bottles of wine. This is a quality wine in a box, without the worry of breakage. We always buy reds so we do not need refridgeration. We also pack two plastic wine glasses. Black box is usually about $20.00 per box. Still much cheaper than just one bottle on board.
Doug&Suzy-Q Posted July 24, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 24, 2006 Where do you purchase these boxes? I know something similar they have in some parts of the country, we cannot get here in Florida??:(
Maryandi Posted July 24, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 24, 2006 I don't know about Clermont but in West Palm Beach you can buy them. I have found them at SuperTarget, Walgreens, Albertsons and Publix. Good luck, MaryAnn

dck12ga Posted July 24, 2006 #7 Share Posted July 24, 2006 Not only do they sell wine in a box... We were at our Meijer store yesterday and they had Martini's in a box!! appletini's, long island ice teas... and more! They were around $15 I am not sure how they taste or how many drinks you can get out of them! HMMM, maybe we will have to try them out before we go!:D
Doug&Suzy-Q Posted July 24, 2006 #8 Share Posted July 24, 2006 I miss Meijer's. We had them up north, great store, they always had the freshest veggies. That sound so good...I will take a variety pack.
cruznlobo Posted July 24, 2006 #9 Share Posted July 24, 2006 Somehow a box of Franzia Chillable Red and a 30 pack of Genesee beer end up in our cabin every cruise. The box wines are good to have because you can take the plastic bag out and put it in ice.

tess2cruz Posted July 25, 2006 #14 Share Posted July 25, 2006 I have used boxed wines in the past, but unfortunetly for my pocketbook, my taste in wines has matured considerably, yes I am a snob. But a warning, I got the Sangria once, didn't taste it until the cruise, and it was horrible, even fresh fruit didn't help. Try it before you go, you may not want to waste the space. It is also hard to take a box to dinner :D
