Seeing Juneau in a rental car

We have a rental car for the day we are in Juneau.We are going to Mendenhall Glacier, Glacier Gardens and Chapel by the lake. What or where else should we see while we have the car, or are the above places enough? Please let me know if we are missing anything. Thanks:)

Several years ago we rented a car in Juneau and drove out to the Shrine of St. Therese - I think it's about 26 miles from Juneau or about 13 miles further than Mendenhall Glacier. My memory is a little hazy - it's been awhile! The area out there is/was just lovely. There was a stream we stood beside and watched the salmon fight their way upstream. It was quite fascinating. This was in late August. Also Douglas Island, across the bridge from Juneau, is another place to explore. I hope BQ sees your post; she may be able to add some insight. Have a wonderful cruise.
