Just one "optional" formal night for a 8 day cruise..

On the June 3, 2006 sailing, there were two "optional formal" nights.

On the 7/8 - 7/16 8-day cruise we had two optional formal nights: Sunday night (Captain's Gala) and Friday night.

Formal nights on all NCL ships are Optional. Only about 40% of the passengers will dress up on the first one. (and that will range from tuxes to shirt/tie) The rest will be in resort casual (polo shirts, etc.) Even less tend to dress up for the second one.
