can you snorkel at Lifou ?

Hi again, could someone help with this one.

I have been going through the shore tour guide and there doesn't seem to be any tours that include a snorkel on Lifou.

Can you go off and snorkel on your own & is there any reef etc worth seeing at Lifou. Thanks if anyone can help.

Yes YES. It is great, go over to the other side of the island from were you get off. You can walk. It is one of the Best things on Lifou. Enjoy

I haven't made it to the other side of Lifou yet. Last cruise we snorkeled on the side the boat anchors. we had to swim out quite a distance but there was wonderful coral and fishes around. It was the left side of the jetty as you walked from the tender towards the land, and right out in the "pale" bits of the water.

 

Can't wait to go over to the other side next time.

My partner is a diver but probably wont be diving during the cruise but we will go snorkelling and it would be nice to snorkel in a good place.

What about Ouvea, is there snorkelling there, or what do we do there

you can snorkel in ouvea but there is nothing much to see- no coral. you can stay by the beach all day or get a local to take you into town.

Is there much to see in town? I am quite happy on the beach if the weather is good but my partner will get bored.

Nonetheless even without coral there would be fish?

It is about a 20 minute walk thru some beautiful dense vegitation, with well defined road/track. Really worth the effort
