MD VBMom Posted July 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 25, 2006 We (my dh and two dd (9 and 11) and I) are looking at a Thanksgiving week cruise this year. We did a Disney cruise a couple of years ago and my kids were disappointed with the kids clubs. It seems that there were not always directed activities. Very often the kids were left on their own to find something to do. I'm concerned about this same thing with RCL. Anybody know about the kids programs on RCL and specifically Radiance? Ella2 Posted July 25, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 25, 2006 During the hours that the kid's programming is open, that age group (9-11) has PLENTY of scheduled activities, plus a little free play time built in as well. The kids will have a blast. :)
Onessa Posted July 26, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 26, 2006 in the age groups in which your daughters will be at the time of the cruise, there is quite of bit of structure to the activities in AO. The kids will receive an AO Compass each evening in your cabin listing the schedule for the following day for their age group. RCCI AO Staff skews more male than female and I've found that seems to make for more high-energy activities and messier projects (very little of the coloring-book type projects my DD's found on other lines). There is free play primarily during the "warm up" and "cool down" times of day - early am, for example, a movie may be playing and the kids a bit on-their-own while sign-in and later-comers straggle in. But the activities start up quickly enough - and are varied enough (games - indoor and out, crayola crafts, science experiments, etc.). The captain generally tries to make an appearance. The kids will have parades through the ship, dinner with the counselors, etc.
