ronnarel Posted July 25, 2006 #1 Share Posted July 25, 2006 Can someone tell me what they know about the boarding procedure if you are a platinum member? Do you just tell someone you are Platinum and they tell you where to go( no wisecrack please.) We are scheduled on the Destiny Sept 10 Imagination 1995 Inspiration 1996 Sensation 1997 Elation 1998 Paradise 1999 Triumph 1999 Paradise 2000 Spirit 2003 Conquest 2004 Conquest 2006 Rhapsody of the Seas 2003
Ronath Posted July 25, 2006 #2 Share Posted July 25, 2006 Let them know you're platinum and they'll direct you to the Skipper's Club area to check you in. You'll bypass all of the other passengers.
salty dingo Posted July 25, 2006 #3 Share Posted July 25, 2006 I am not platinum, but I have observed a priority boarding procedure for a wedding party. I imagine you would pick up your platinum S&S card at check-in, and they would inform you of the procedure. In Miami, the rightmost area of the first waiting room past security was where the priority guests waited. Yes, they waited like the rest of us, and waited and waited. No one gets on the ship until it is cleared. Once it was cleared, they went on through followed by everyone else in the main line. From there we went to another waiting room. I saw the wedding party waiting there for a while but they were first called to board. It seemed they had some staff with them, at least when there was something to tell them. So, if Platinum is treated the same, you won't necessarily get on the ship at an earlier time, but you should be first in line, ahead of all the commoners (like me!) Ronath Posted July 25, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 25, 2006 Yes, they can't let you on until the ship is cleared but once done you are among the first. They put you in the front of the line.
BETSY DOLL Posted July 26, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 26, 2006 Platinum is wonderful! We finally have reached this point, and they DO recognize you as a frequent cruiser. This next cruise will be my 14 (?) or so.... love the upgrades and little perks they give us. Carnival has been good to me- so I will continue cruising with them. Guest YesitDonna Posted July 26, 2006 #6 Share Posted July 26, 2006 Depending on the port you actually get in one line and then it finally parts to VIP checkin. We were checked in and then escorted to the boarding area by a crew member, it was nice.
cruzn buckeye Posted July 27, 2006 #7 Share Posted July 27, 2006 We are Platinum. We were on our 15th cruise on the Glory out of PC 4/29. They have a special room for VIP check-in. And yes, while you do wait until the ship is cleared, being Platinum was great there. We arrived around 11:30 or so. The lines outside the terminal were getting pretty long before they started letting people in. However, there was a sign that says VIP check-in. This was outside the terminal and we were able to bypass the long lines. Also, once inside ,we headed for the VIP check-in room. It was a little crowded, so a lady in charge took us right to the check-in desk in the terminal. After we checked in they escorted us to the front of the line, right behind the wedding party. We were eating lunch on the lido deck by 11:45! Port Canaveral has their VIP check-in working perfectly!!!!!!
CRUZFINDER Posted July 27, 2006 #8 Share Posted July 27, 2006 Has anyone been in this situation? I am the only "Platinum" cruiser in our group of six sailing on the Fantasy August 19. All others are "Gold" card status with the exception of my son's girlfriend. This will be her first cruise. Do we all get the VIP boarding treatment because we're all travelling together? Or do I thumb my nose at them, enjoy being a VIP, and tell them that I'll see them on the ship!!! Seriously, I'm not going to let us get split up. Has anyone known of this or had this happen to them? Let me know how Carnival handles this. Thanx...

My suggestion would be that if you want to board with your entire party, just wait back with the regular folk :p Or you could tell them you will see them on the ship :D I think it's a perk that should be reserved for platinum members... or those in the same cabin with that member. I agree 100%. It's for those who have EARNED it. If every platinum member had 3/4 other pax with them it would kind of negate the whole VIP check in. I would just check in with the regular pax. It seems like I read somewhere where one other cabin can enjoy the linked perks, but that may just have applied to dinner reservations By the way, we used the VIP perks on our last cruise in May (all but one was Platinum) and our favorite perk was the priority tendering. Simply went to Platinum desk, and were immediately "escorted" down the elevators, and to the front of the tendering line:) . It certainly beat standing in line!! Totally agree........I mean we finally got these perks and if they allow everyone it's as if we don't have them...........It's the same if you had front row seats to a concert and when you got there they said....oh, we changed it to general admission.:(
