How early will Princess (Star) board folks or at least put them in a waiting area? Thanks for the info.

It varies by the cruise and itinerary. If you have booked a hotel the night before through Pincess their transfer could get you on board around 11. Most ships are through unloading 10-10:30, and they need to allow the cabin stewards time to change bedding etc in all the cabins. So, if you happen to get on board early, don't expect your cabin to be ready. About 1 pm is usually a good time, in our experience.
