Wait staff effeciency on Crown

We are sailing on the Crown in January '07 and were trying to decide on which dining time. The last couple of times on the Caribbean, it seemed like we pushed 2 hours at times at the late seating to get through dinner. This just gets too late for us, but at the time, their early seating was 5:45 PM. I just learned when booking on the Crown that early seating is 6:30 (not sure about late-I figure probably 8:30?). The question is, does the wait staff do a better job getting you through dinner than what I described on the CP? The other option of course is to change to Personal Choice after getting on board.

Thanks,

Margie

We just got back from the Crown on 7/20. We had the 8:15 late seating and had fantastic service.

The only problem was in the beginning - we booked 15 months ago and were confirmed many times for the late seating, table for four. When we got there we had anytime dining. Generosso took care of it and we had a great wait team. Dan and Mihai were from Romania - table 25 in the Botticelli. Our last cruise was on the QM2 and they were way better than our wait team on QM2.

They were always concerned that we enjoyed our meals. Dan always gave recommendations. They offered more when it was a meal (lobster, scallops) that you didn't get a lot of food. They were always willing to get us different meals if we didn't like what we had. They never rushed us, but we never waited. On QM2 many times we sat around waiting forever for the next course. They were just great.

We have sometimes found that service is a little slower if the other tables in our waiters' section are placing extra demands on the team, such as ordering multiple main courses for example. There has been a time or two when our waiters have apologized. Usually we are enjoying the company of our tablemates enough that we don't mind a bit of a wait. In fact, it's refreshing when most restaurants these days seem to want you in and out as quickly as you can shovel your food down.

We were on the Crown on 6/14 and didn't get out of the dining room before 10:30 on the majority of the nights. We were running to the shows! I think it really depends on who you get as your waiter and how experienced they are.

Thanks guys. I guess it just depends on certain factors. Now that the early seating is 6:30, we may just go that route. At least you know they have to get you out for the next seating huh? :D
