POH car rental question- Kona

I am going on the POH for my honeymoon on August 14.

We are going through excursions for each of the islands and are thinking about renting a car in Kona. However, it seems that the car companies do not offer shuttles from the port. Any suggestions on how to rent a car/get to the rental company at the airport? Are there any companies that do have shuttles available at the pier?

Do a search on this forum for "car rental Kona". You'll get tons of hits.

 

In quick summary, Dollar Rental Car in the King Kamehameha Hotel - right next to the pier where you tender to.

I just reserved with National for all the islands POH stops at. They gave me phone numbers at each port to call one hour before we want to go. They will then send out a shuttle to get us.

I chose National because they were the cheapest with an AARP discount.

On Kona there is plenty to do within walking distance of the pier. There is tons of shopping, restaurants, beaches, historical churches and sites, brewery w/ tours. You can also rent bikes right at the pier and shuttles to shopping venues around. Kona is a great place to relax and buy some great souvenirs, there are retail shops and open air markets.
