It was most likely mosquito repellant. Is this the spray that covers your clothes as well? Anyone else who has been on an Amazon cruise who has experienced this? Sandra We did the Veendam Amazon last fall and HAL did fogging in some ports and on the overnite in Manaus this just sprayed repellant on us as we left. On the return they handed out the Purel wipes. kakalina Posted August 4, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 4, 2006 Hi Sandra, they sprayed us with Off with DEET as we disembarked in the Amazon ports. What was even better was the iced washcloths awaiting us on our return before we entered the ship. No one had to be sprayed that didn't wish the Off. Also, on a sadder note one of the cabin steward was mugged and beaten up quite badly in Manus. He was alone and is was night. Just a word of warning.
