Yet another reason to fly in a day early

I just spotted this thread from the RCCL board http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=391074, where a person's friend flying on the first flight of the morning out of their area, non-stop and almost missed the ship because that non-stop flight was delayed.

The friend made the ship, but only by the slimmest of margins.

It's just one more reminder to me to fly a day early. She did everything we say to do if you must fly in same day. She took the first flight out of the day, she took a non-stop so no connections, she didn't even check any luggage so she didn't have to wait at baggage claim. And still she almost missed the ship.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am beyond anal ~ but I always fly out at least a day before a cruise:

  • you get to explore the (new) port
  • avoid inclement weather (i'm from the northeast ~ so winter travel is a pain)
  • i hate to rush

i love the idea of "homeports" ... i hope more cruise lines follow suit and initiate more itineraries from nyc!
