Beaches near the cruise terminal

We always took a short taxi ride over to the Hilton Hotel and used their beach. It's a nice cove and a good place to swim. Hotel was torn down a few years ago, but think it's been rebuilt and is now open. Much less crowded than the other beaches and not much farther.

We did Malibu beach and I would say it's not for kids. The surf is rough. In the shallow part of the water is a wide stretch of very soft sand that is hard to walk in and then you go over quite a soft rise to get to water that is knee height. There are ALOT of irritating vendors too. Must say I lost my patience with it all and we left earlier than planned.
