cubaol Posted August 10, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2006 I am tring to exchange some U.S. $ before I get to Tahiti, but the local service provided a horrible exchange rate. Where is the best place to exchange US $ in Tahiti (airport..we arrive late on a Saturday night...in town?) AND what exchange rate (How many local francs)can I get in Tahiti per $100? Is there a lower rate for higher amounts (e.g. $500). Any help would be appreciated because I think I'm getting ripped off here in the U.S.by the company my bank sent me to. Oh..does anyone know the exchange rate on the PG?

Oh..does anyone know the exchange rate on the PG? I would say that it is better whenever possible to use your credit card as you get a better exchange rate than if you exchange money on the islands. However, you never mentioned what exchange rate you were offered? Tell me what it is and I will tell you if it's better than what you will get here.
