katie286 Posted August 11, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2006 Sorry to bother anyone, but I am sooo confused right now. We booked an excursion with Carnival from 8:00 to 11:30. Is that ship time or Grand Cayman time? If it is ship time, does that mean that we will be leaving at 9:00 and returning at 12:30 Grand Cayman time? What time do we have to get off the ship in the morning? Are there any shops open at 7:00 am ship time (which is 8:00am Island time, I think) Our ship leaves at 2:00pm so I've been told that the last tender is at 1:00. We wanted to go to a glass blowing studio either before or after the excursion. Can we do this? Any help would be appreciated!
twinkletoes4445 Posted August 13, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2006 What date and what port are you leaving from (Miami, New Olreans, or another)?

twinkletoes4445 Posted August 13, 2006 #4 Share Posted August 13, 2006 We are cruising frrom Tampa on the Inspiration and will be in Grand Cayman on Wednesday, Aug. 16th. We will be in Grand Cayman from 7am - 2pm. Okay...here's my 2-cents worth... :) The very best thing to do is find someone who has been on your ship and see what they do about the time issue. We were on the Triumph and they told us to stay on ship time. We were cruising over New Year's so ship time and island time were the same (GC doesn't do daylight savings-neither does Jamaica if you are going there). So the day you are there since they don't do the daylight savings thing (the time of year you will be there, island time is the same as central time) should go like this... Ship time will be 7-2 Island time 6-1 Our ship left at 4:30 and the last tender was at 3:45. So most likely your last tender will be at 12:15. Your tour is from 8:00-11:30...I don't know if that's island time or ship time, but they will tell you. But maybe someone will come along with that info. My guess (and it's only a guess) would be that the time is ship time, which would make your tour actually 7-10:30 island time, which is good. That will give you a little more time at the end to do the glassworks place. Hopefully...someone who has been on the same ship that you will be on will chime in on this. But the good thing for you is that you have your first excursion booked through Carnival, since you're not going to be on the island all that long. You'll be the first off. katie286 Posted August 13, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted August 13, 2006 Thanks so much! We will check while we are on the ship, but I'm hoping that you are right and we will have a little time for the glass blowing studio!:)

luvtocruise52 Posted August 13, 2006 #7 Share Posted August 13, 2006 We recently did the Conquest out of Galveston, which is on Central Daylight Savings time during the summer, as was Grand Cayman. We stayed on CST throughout the cruise, so ship time was the same as port time at all of our stops.
luvtocruise52 Posted August 14, 2006 #8 Share Posted August 14, 2006 Sorry, I meant to say we were on Central Daylight Savings time throughout the cruise.
deputy836 Posted August 14, 2006 #9 Share Posted August 14, 2006 We were always on ship time...so if they say 8am they mean 8 ship time...never go by the ports time
