yjl869 Posted July 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2004 Has anyone taken a biking tour in Anchorage? Any recommendations?
bpwarne Posted July 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2004 Hav'nt taken any bike tours. However, Anchorage has a fantastic jogging/bike trail that runs along the bay and adjacent to the alaska railroad tracks at some points. I believe it is quite long. Finding a place to rent bikes in Anchorage should not be difficult I would think. Also, Talkeetna of all places now has a bicycle path along the spur road going into it. Also, I noticed a lot of bike paths off the main highway between Achorage and Mt. Mckinley.
bpwarne Posted July 8, 2004 #3 Share Posted July 8, 2004 yjl869, I found my downtown map of Anchorage just after I replied to your post and thought I'd pass this info on. The trail in downtown Anchorage is called the Tony Knowels Coastal Trail. It is 11 miles long. Try Downtown Bicycle Rental on 4th & C street. Tel: 907-279-5293. I'm sure they can hook you up with either a bike or tour. Good Luck, Bob

hooked-on-travel Posted July 8, 2004 #6 Share Posted July 8, 2004 The website for Downtown Bike Rental http://alaska-bike-rentals.com/ was helpful to me when I had questions. I intend to use them a week from tomorrow, so I'll have to report back if you want first hand info.
