Brilliance Day Planner For Panama Cruise

Recommended Posts

Haven't scanned them, but I have them from last December's cruise if you want to ask a specific question. Or I can give you a typical day on this post. They did not vary all that much from day to day.

I have them from last April (of this year) but don't have a scanner........I too will answer any questions you might have. Ask away and I'll do the best I can. If I can figure out someone who has a scanner, I'll try and get them scanned.

Yes, they had trivia every day......sometimes in the morning and sometimes in the afternoon........I think the only day they didn't have trivia was the day in Panama........

It was basically the standard RC events.........several events at the pool, including the horse races.........owners horse race will be the last sea day. The auction for the horses will be the second sea day if I remember correctly. They have wine tasting, passenger talent show, napkin folding............if you have been on any RC cruise, the activities don't change much from cruise to cruise.

There will be some dance classes and things like that..................

I will review my compasses and see if there is anything special or specific that stands out.

You will have at least 2 headliner entertainers...........we had Marty Allen and his show was one of the best I have ever seen on any RC ship. Mark Preston was the other headliner, but we didn't go to his show, we had seen him on two other occasions. Entertainment all in all was very good, even the production shows.

Happy to help any way I can.

OK as for dinner:

It is normally 6pm and 8:30p and yes it is the same every night.

They changed it for our cruise ONLY to 5:30 and 8 because it was Easter week and there were alot of kids in the second seating because early filled up so they moved everything up a half hour for the entire week. We like early but 5:30 was too early.

Normally 6 and 8:3o and it is the same time all week long.

I would also suggest you go to your bookstore and order or purchase

Panama Canal by Cruise Ship by Anne Vipond................

This is easy to read and includes a map of the canal and gives you a great overview of what you will experience as you go into the canal.

Thanks for all the info Jim. I bought this book a few months ago and it is great! I reccommend that anyone going on a Panama Canal cruise purchase it. I found it on Amazon for pretty cheap!

We enjoyed the commentary provided over the speaker system when we went thru on the Brilliance (her 1st time through). Do suggest that at some point go on deck 5 to see just how close you are to the sides! We viewed it going thru on our deck port side.....then on the top going back thru...and on deck 5.

Ask away on questions!

Better yet...............get a balcony for this one..........but here is a tip.....

There are 2 lanes for the Panama Canal and you won't know until the morning you get there which lane your ship is assigned.........we had friends with a starboard side balcony and we had a port side balcony.......no matter which lane the ship went through, we were covered on both sides.......turns out we used their balcony going through in the morning and as the previous poster stated we went down to deck 5 going back out.........

If you get a balcony, make sure you pair up with another couple and get your balconies on opposite sides of the ship.

Jim,

That is a good idea. Though I have to admit that the best views are from the bow or the stern. If the weather is nice that is. Definitely recommend a balcony for this cruise.

There were also a lot of art auctions on this cruise. And a lot of opportunities to earn Ship Shape dollars. I work out a lot and appreciated all the activities that were offered in this regard.

Yes there was a main show every night of some type......our headliner was Marty Allen and it was one of the greatest shows on a cruise I have seen. He boarded the ship in Miami just in front of us and performed the next night which was a sea night.

As for Aruba......yes........you can get on and off the ship as you want. We stayed on the ship in the evening so can't really tell you what was going on. We took a day excursion, went to a casino for a little while and did some shopping.

Dean,

If you are interested I can send you my review. But, there were a lot of windy cloudy days. We missed Cayman going down to do weather, but got it on the way back. And we totally missed the Costa Rica port. This is just the risk you take when cruising Latin America during the rainy season. So, the solarium pool was very crowded to say the least. Still a great experience.

Dean and Alice,

We were on the April Spring Break Cruise with Isujim and had a wonderful time. The Brillance was amazing.

I think I still have Compass from all ten days. I will check when I get home and if I can figure out my son's scanner I will let you know. If I can't, then I would be happy to copy all and snail mail it to you. Send me an email with your address and I'll get that right out to you. cauthement@triparish.net

Have a great cruise!
