This is our 1st cruise on Adventure of the seas from Nov. 26 to Dec. 3. We are doing the southern Caribbean. Has anyone gone during this time of year? If the ship departs at 10:00 PM what time should we arrive at port to start boarding? We hear a lot of horror stories about boarding, long lines, ETC. Any suggestions? What other tips could you offer to make checking-in less painful. What is the first things we should be doing after boarding the ship. Reservations? Best places? ETC.

I am going to assume that you will be sailing out of Puerto Rico?? We did the southern last year, but it was on Princess. We got to the pier at about 12:30 p.m. and it was a little slow to board, but we were the first ship departing from that pier that year, so the workers were a little slow, but not too bad. Once on the ship I would suggest making any dinner reservations in specialty restuarants if that interests you, they usually have a schedule of which nights are formal, so you won't miss them. We then go and find our dinner table, our cabin and just kind of explore the ship. We then grab a bit to eat and then we left the ship and toured around Old San Juan. Princess docks about a 5-10 minute walk, so that was very handy. You could also pack your swim suit in your carry on and hang out by the pool. The weather that time of year will be wonderful.

Hope this info is a little helpful.

We recently sailed on AOS out of Puerto Rico, Southern Caribbean route. Our cruise documents stated we should board no earlier than 2 pm but at least 3 hours before departure. We went to the pier at approx 3.30 and got through really quickly because most people were already onboard so the lines were very short! We heard that some people boarded as early as 11.30!! Just make sure you have your SetSail pass completed and signed and you have a pen to complete your disembarkation questionnaire (info on your departing flight number and times for departure). If you do go early you might want to pack some necessities in your hand luggage because your room may not be ready until 2 pm and your bags may take a while to be delivered. If there's anything else I can tell you, please let me know. Have a great time - you will love it!!!!

While the docs say that they don't start boarding until 2pm, they usually start boarding around 11:30 - unless the previous week's sailing is delayed.

If you want to eat at the specialty restauarant on a certain night or you want a spa treatment, you should do those as soon after boarding as possible.
