NCL Hawaii Volcanoes Nature Deluxe tour

Saw a thread on this subject on the NCL board so thought I would raise it here ... Has anybody done this tour and what did you think?

 

We agonised for quite a while on how to best see as much of VNP as possible in a short time frame while at Hilo on our 27 Sep Wind cruise, and this seems like a good compromise as it provides plenty of time out of the bus walking around looking at what there is to see.

 

We weren't interested in doing the quick drive around of the crater in a big bus (with a macadamamia plantation or a waterfall thrown in for good measure to fill in time) tour, and weren't sure about the 6 hour hiking tour that might or might not result in us actually seeing molten lava. Can see that from the ship that night even if not up close and personal

 

For those that will say "hire a car", I'm not keen to test my wrong side of the road driving skills (I'm an Aussie!) for the first time here ... though we plan to hire cars at other ports.
