Family Beach in Belize

I've read about Caye Caulker and Ambergris Caye.

 

Can someone tell me if there is a closer beach? Just wondering if there is one closer than 45 minutes away from the pier.

From my understanding of talking to 4 individual tour operators, reading these boards and reading many, many websites regarding Belize City- there is not any beaches on the mainland, you would have to go to Caye Caulker for the closest "Main" beaches. There are small atols, but I couldn't provide you with information.

 

For this same reason, due to the fact that I'm traveling with 2 kids- we're opting to do the "goff's caye" excursion directly from the boat (no tendering) no water taxi, etc. It saves at min. an hour each way- BUT it is WAY cheaper to get off and take the taxi over- if I had more time and less kids with me (lol) than that is what I would do. :)! But if you take the excursion, you're back on the boat at noon and you can have lunch and go in to town to shop-
