Question for very recent Victory cruisers

We were on the Victory 8/7 sailing. We looked forward to the piano bar also as our son is a piano player. We never saw the piano bar without the guitar player in it. He never played the piano. He stands behind it with a guitar! He made a few jokes about it and we never pursued it. The piano bar is quite nice with the piano key bar top but very smoky at all times. Found most of the bars empty by midnite. Even the karaoke and the over 18 dance club. Sorry about the negative regarding the ship. Overall we had beautiful weather (the exception I am told) and the ship was clean and the staff just fine. We had towel animals every nite. The most comfortable beds ever. Enjoy your trip, just don't expect much in the piano department.

I've read a few posts within the last month (or maybe a bit longer) that there is no pianist in the Irish Seas Bar. Apparently, a guitarist has been substituted:confused: . Would anyone know if this has been rectified? I am sailing on the 31st, and the piano bar is one of the things I really look forward to -- just wouldn't be the same with a guitar. I'll still have a great time either way, but I'm curious about this. Thanks!

 Sorry, I JUST got off the victory but i do not know the answer...there was a guy playing piano and girl at some point but i dont know how long/often they were there...we did NOT enjoy Carnival this time...this was my second carnival cruise and my familys first and last. Things were just not up to par. We had late dining and missed SEVERAL activities because of this...really not fair. There were NO hand washing stations and no paper towels to dry hands...i guess they do not care about the nuro virus...I could go on about the disappointing things but I know how strange people are about negative things about their precious carnival company so i will stop here. If you have any questions I would be happy to tell you anything I know. The best part of our cruise was the dining room staff...Warren and Ernesto rocked!! ps I tried the "pre-tip" the steward idea and it did nothing for us. We got one towel animal the whole trip...

Let me guess - you went into it PLANNING on having a bad time, right? When I went just 3 weeks before you we had a blast. By the way, there were thousands of hand washing stations all over the ship. They're called sinks. Learn to use them.

As for the OP - There was a very good piano player in the Irish Seas bar from 7/15 through 7/20, for sure.

My DH and I just returned on Monday from a 4-day Carnival Victory cruise to Halifax. We had previously sailed on NCL and Holland America. Friends were going and at the last minute, we decided to go too.

Embarkation was the smoothest we've ever experienced. Our son dropped us off, the porter took our bags and we were in our cabin within a half hour. The steward was great and the cabin was immaculate. We had the 6:15 dining time in the Atlantic Room. The waiter (Lauro) was superb. The dining room food was excellent, with many choices to suit everyone at our table. Extras of favorite items were brought without requesting them.

Many have written about the layout of the ship and problems with getting around. They're right. Never have I had such a tough time. Note: decks 2 and 5 do go from forward to aft.

I too was very concerned that there were no hand sanitizers - especially upon entering the buffet or at the casino. On our past 3 NCL cruises the stations were everywhere. I noted that on my comment card.

My DH hated the loud music - poolside, in lounges, at the shows. On the other hand, there were very few instrusive announcements over the ship's PA system. Lots of families with children of all ages, as was expected. Other than the silly people who insist crying, exhausted toddlers sit through a show, there were no problems.

We enjoyed the cruise, but do prefer other lines.

FYI, so do decks 1,6,7,8 and 9. In fact, the only ones that don't are the ones with the dining rooms on them (3 and 4). And that is only because of the midship galley.
