VaBeachcruiser897 Posted August 22, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 22, 2006 I will be on Grand Cayman and I have nothing planned from 11:30 until 3:00pm. Could anyone recommend a must do near the port... Something that we could comfortably fit in? We will have already completed a snorkling trip by 11:30 or so.... VaBeachcruiser897 Posted August 28, 2006 Author #2 Share Posted August 28, 2006 I was hoping for some type of must do or must see near the port?? I guess I could go to the beach and swim ( are spedo's popular in GC?), maybe I should just get back to the ship ASAP!!
jmo1 Posted August 29, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2006 I don't know of any "must do" activities near the port. You could tender back to the ship for a nice lunch, and then if you don't need a siesta, tender back to shore and walk around and look in the shops. Or open an off-shore account at one of the many banks.
Lsimon Posted September 4, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 4, 2006 There are some great snorkeling spots a couple blocks from the tender pier, and within eye-shot of the ships. The area is called Eden Rock and Devil's Grotto. There are a couple dive shops there where you can rent snorkeling gear if you don't have your own. And they won't mind you using their entry facilities if you have your own stuff. Be aware it is a bit rocky here where you get into and out of the water, and not a sandy beach at all. We like to wear the type of fins that go over water shoes or booties as I don't like walking barefoot over rough rocks. After you tender in just go to your right (as you face inland with your back to the sea) a bit and you'll see these places. It's about a 5 minute walk, maybe less. If you search for Eden Rock on this forum, or on google, you'll find more info.
VaBeachCruisers897 Posted September 4, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 4, 2006 Thats perfect... I think we will have time to take on a small lunch ; refreshment and then get in some more water time.. I just did not want to do the beach in this port. Can you ballpark the rental fees?? I will look online, but if you know first hand?
