Skyrules Posted August 23, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2006 Just wondering what Wala and Luganville are like and what you can do on the islands. Thanks Kerri:D Haven't been to Luganville, but Wala is lovely. There are some markets, which are good, but the best part is that the locals will take you on a guided walking tour of the Island (takes 1-2 hrs) and you get to visit each of the 4 or 5 villages on the island and they dance for you, and show you the way the live. It's wondeful, and it's free - all that they ask is that you leave donations along the way. Take plenty of gold coins. The swimming is also nice there too. aussiedisneyfan Posted August 23, 2006 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2006 I quite liked Luganville. It is a little bit like Vila. When you get off there are stalls around. Hairbraiding is cheaper. $5!!! Like Vila, you walk through the markets and there are taxis. However, here you can walk up the street past more stalls and then there a few shops and cafes. Shops are nothing like Vila. Pretend it is a "city" well Luganville is a rural town. We stopped at a lovely cafe and had an icecream. Nice to walk around. I went on the Blue Hole tour and loved it. The water was lovely and cool. Had lovely fruit to eat for a couple of dollars. This time I am thinking about some of us taking a taxi rather than the P&O tour at $48 per person.
