Spike_Spiegel Posted August 26, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2006 In case anyone else is invested in this particular add-on, I was just informed by Cunard today that the VSOE (Orient Express) rail transfer from London-to-Southampton (and attendant champagne lunch) has been cancelled, due to insufficient number of bookings. Bummer, since we were looking forward to the chance to ride the famous train. This was for the November 18 westbound crossing ... which was originally scheduled for November 11. - Spike
PatrickS Posted August 26, 2006 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2006 The train for the Sept. 24th westbound crossing was also cancelled. It is very disappointing. It was one of the highlights of the trip. Now we must take a bus. The train does not seem to be very popular; maybe they should lower the price
Spike_Spiegel Posted August 26, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted August 26, 2006 Good point, Patrick, but unless Cunard figures out a way to somehow subsidize the trip, I doubt that will happen. My expertise is limited, but I would expect that the operating cost for this little jaunt is eating up most of the revenue. Either way, I was hoping to return home saying I had traveled on the VSOE ... now that will have to wait until another time ... *sigh*
