Looking for a good place to snorkel with a nice beach, but do not want to go to far because we still want a little time for shopping. If you have any diffrent places that you like please share. Or your opinion on the two, any info would be great.:)

If you don't want to go very far, you should pick Chankanaab Park. Xcaret is on the mainland and will take a few hours to transfer. Chankanaab is on the island and can be reached in 15 minutes from any cruise terminal. Chankanaab has good snorkeling also.

I agree with IslandJim, the snorkeling at Chankanaab Park was awesome (1.5 years ago)! We are going back in December and I CAN'T WAIT!!!!! We were planning on snorkeling on our own when a snorkel guide came up and offered his services for the price of a tip (if we felt he deserved a tip when all was said and done)...he was taking out a small group of college students, so we went along. He was awesome and the snorkeling was GREAT!!!

If you want to see reef you may want to consider a boat tour too. If you want to spend time at the beach with a 2 hr snorkel trip then check out the Paradise Beach catamaran tour

 

Or if you want more boat time with a shorter stop on a beach, then the Famous Fury tour may be better.
