xz3k3x Posted August 29, 2006 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2006 When are the formal nights on the Triumph? Which is better to fly into Miami or Ft. Lauderdale? How far is each airport from the port? What is the actual port name? Where is the best place to stay in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale? Thanks in advance for all your help?

LDR Posted August 30, 2006 #5 Share Posted August 30, 2006 xz3k3x-When are you going on Triumph? We're doing an Eastern on 4/7/07. Still holding off on booking airfare because it's really expensive now, but we may not have a choice:) However there is a Holiday Inn across from the Port of Miami that we did get a room for the night before. Less than $200, and we took a look at it when we were in Miami last month.
jduals Posted August 31, 2006 #6 Share Posted August 31, 2006 Airfare keeps going up - found going in night before to be much cheaper - by about $300 -- we are in the Midwest, going into Miami - poor flights. Carnival was over $800 for 2 airfare from STL. We are seniors so are getting a pre-cruise king at the Hyatt in Miami for $76/nt. direct with Hyatt. Air and hotel going the night before is cheaper than flying in day of cruise (only 1 flight would get us there in time for cruise).
tjaker11 Posted August 31, 2006 #7 Share Posted August 31, 2006 Hi XZ... Try bidding on Priceline start @ $60 for a 4 star- Bayside area. We got the Intercontinetal Bayside (we were on the 18th floor overlooking the port and marketplace). We got it for $65, but that was November 2005. If they don't accept that increase your bid. Good Luck

I would say that the best airport between FLL and MIA to fly into is whichever will cost you the least :D I find that it is often significantly cheaper for me to fly into FLL. Of course you want to factor any transport costs into this. FLL is about 45 min. from Miami and MIA is about 10 min. You can find a lot of info on the Hotels Message Board, especially about Miami. Personally, I opted to get in really early the day before and spend the day before my cruise in South Beach.
bobandkelly Posted August 31, 2006 #9 Share Posted August 31, 2006 As of sometime in August of 2007 Triumph will be moving to NOLA. We were booked for the 25 and are in the process of changing our booking. Not worried, we are looking forward to a wonderful vacation no matter what ship we sail on.
